Is that an EN infront of the knox form? That would be Argentinian contract. Usually stamped on butt aswell. Some were chambered for 11mm Spanish, have you done a chamber cast?

No thats a "69" on the barrel. Its also marked "Werndl" on the breach, 868 on the lockplate and R.84.over3977. on the buttplate. The initials are LFX or possibly LEX followed by HS. The lower part of...

That's in outstanding condition! Enjoy shooting it, it's a great rifle. I use .446" bullets in Bertram brass.

Love your rifle. I never understood why the Werndl action wasn't more popular. In good condition they operate as smooth as silk.

Wish my Werndl looked that good, but it does at least have a mint bore. I fireformed 0.348 Winchester for mine - 40 grains of 777 topped up with Cream of Wheat, a beeswax plug and a 0.44 round ball...

I just ordered some RWS 10.3X60R brass to form instead. I also orderd a Lee .450 mini bullet mold. I'm going to turn the base pin down to make it a dish base instead of hollow base bullet then size it...

The 10.3X60Rmm should work just fine. You might think about sizing at .448" or .449", since the groove diameter on old Werner, is .450"... the land diameter is .440" or so -- just a thought.

Lyman make a mould for a .446 bullet, at a nominal 340 grains. I use one to cast bullets for my Kynoch in .43 Musket/Mauser.

The Boers were in the habit of signing their rifles. In the early 1890s the Boer national arsenal stocked Werndl ammo for the arms in use by their citizens.
